SENATOR ROBACH SECURES $250,000 GRANT FOR NAZARETH COLLEGE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM

New York State Senator Joseph Robach recently secured $250,000 to support the development of an occupational therapy program in Nazareth’s School of Health and Human Services (SHHS).

“Senator Robach has been a great supporter of the College and our health and human services programs because he realizes the commitment of the faculty and students in serving the needs of this community,” said Nazareth College President Daan Braveman. “We thank him for this grant and his continued support, and we are excited about the addition of this new program.”

“We are grateful to Senator Robach for this important grant which will provide us with the initial funds to renovate current office space for a clinic and lab space for the program,” said Shirley Szekeres, dean of the SHHS.  “We are in the process of writing our proposal to the State Education Department and hope to submit it in the near future. Adding this program will not only meet a significant need in the community but will enhance the interdisciplinary education of our students in the School”.

“I was happy to help secure this funding for Nazareth College to develop an occupational therapy program.  This is a significant investment which will produce enormous returns to the economy and the public by increasing access to OT services.  Nazareth College is a first class institute of higher education and I applaud the commitment of President Braveman, the faculty and staff to this new program, Nazareth students and the Rochester community.” stated Senator Robach.
